Srinagar: A senior Navy official said on Monday that the situation in Kerala is improving and the rescue operation is almost complete. He said efforts are now being intensified towards relief and rehabilitation. In Kerala, 210 people have lost their lives so far in floods caused by heavy monsoon rains. Due to this, more than 7.14 lakh people have been displaced from their homes. Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command told reporters, "As far as the Navy is concerned, we had intensified our efforts in the last four to five days, now we are moving towards providing relief and then towards rehabilitation. ” 






"The initial rescue work has almost been completed. However, some people may be stranded in different areas. We will reach them to take them to safer places. ” 
Vice Admiral Luthra said that rescue operations were launched in Kerala about two weeks ago and the operation was intensified with the pace of rain. "A campaign is underway to coordinate the entire campaign from Delhi. Security forces are being coordinated by the Defence Disaster Management Group and coordinated at the national level by the National Disaster Management Group. Luthra said the situation is likely to come under control soon with the cooperation of all central and state agencies, NGOs and people.
