Turkish President Rajab Tayyab Erdogan called heads of several Islamic countries over violent clashes near the Al-Aqsa mosque and palestinian rights. Erdogan has spoken to the heads of state of Malaysia, Jordan, Kuwait and the political chief of Hamas about Israel.
A statement issued by the Turkish presidential office said Erdogan also spoke to Hamas' political bureau chief Ismail Haniya.
"They will do everything possible to unite the whole world to prevent Israeli occupation and its terror, but before that Islamic countries need to unite," Erdogan told Ismail Haniya, describing the Israeli attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque as a "terrorist act". On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also said his country was "doing everything possible for a ceasefire... And hopefully it will be possible."
