Although the earth's biodiversity (Biodiverisity is at risk, billions of birds still live here. On the occasion of International Biodiversity Day (International Day for Biological Diversity), a research has found an answer to the question of how many birds will be on earth at the moment. The research also suggests that there are about six birds on earth compared to every human being.

According to this study, at least 50 billion wild birds (Birds) currently exist on earth (Earth) and the number could go up to 428 billion. The research has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, led by Core Calagon, a biologist at the University of New South Wales in Australia (Australia). The team tried to calculate more than 9,000 bird species that exist today.

In this study, researchers used citizen science observation and vast algorithms to make their guesses. This study was very difficult because it is not easy to calculate birds (Birds). The team had to face very practical difficulties such as the problem of calculating small birds (counting of Birds), the inaccuracy of the scope of the bird flight (Flight of birds). The number of researchers then went up from 50 billion to 428 billion.

In this study, researchers used data collected by ebird (Ebirds) which is the largest online database of observations of birds (Birds) collected by all citizen scientists in the world. About six million people contributed to this, which is a documentation of bird sightings (Bird Sighting) that can make this study possible. The researchers also used detailed case studies available to create their own particular algorithms.
